The purpose of the project was to convert an industrial building that houses offices in a building with an energy rating of type A. The original building had terrible insulation in floor, facade, dividing wall and roof. The owners sought to equip the work with a eco friendly philosophy in the use of materials and climate strategies.
The intention of the project has been to reduce the energy demand in air conditioning and lighting. There was special interest in making cover and plant facade to use them as a laboratory and support for their R + D activities.
The ability to transpire, the thermal inertia and the life cycle determined the choice of each material. The objective has been to build an efficient, healthy and recyclable building. It may be a bit paradoxical that in a concrete and sheet industrial landscape a project of these characteristics is executed, but the challenge of sustainable architecture has to reach all places, activities and social groups.
Different techniques and systems have been combined into a single architectural idea. Traditional architecture has been used to choose certain materials and bioclimatic strategies. But technology has also been used to make the facade, the vegetation cover and the heating and ventilation systems.
